When the Missionary Benedictines of St Ottilien took over a new mission field in the Kerio Valley (Kenya) in 1972, they opened a mission procure in the town of Eldoret on February 10, 1972. It served as supply centre for the mission stations which the Benedictines built up along the Kerio Valley, north of Eldoret.
Later, it became a dependent house of Tigoni Priory. On February 18, 1999, it was placed directly under the Congregation. It now serves us basis for the two Benedictine priests who look after the parishes of Kapkemich (started in 1997) and Kamwosor (started 1999), both of which belong to the Diocese of Eldoret. The par-ishes which the Benedictines had established in the Kerio Valley and on the adjoin-ing Cherangani Hills (Chesongoch 1972, Chesoi 1973, Aror 1974, Embobut 1978, Endo 1987) have been handed over to the diocesan clergy.
