The community at Ampleforth Abbey transferred here in 1802 having been previously at Dieulouard until the French Revolution. We are the most numerous community in England (88 monks). Works include education, parish work (locally and in Lancashire and Cumbria), hospitality, orchards and associated produce and retail. We have a house of studies in Oxford, and a mission in Zimbabwe.
